Myron Leski
- Myron Leski studied art at the Art Inststute of Chicago, has a M.A. in Fine Arts from Montclair State College in New Jersey, and studied painting at the Arts Students League of New York with Hughie Lee Smith, David Leffel and Isaac Soyer. He has a B.A. in history and was a schoolteacher for six years. Leski is also a Vietnam vet, and worked outside for Gannett Outdoor advertising as a Grade A pictorial billboard illustrator for fifteen years.
His pictorial subjects include rural and urban themes, portraiture, equine, and sports. Animal subjects hold a special interest. An acute observer, his paintings always start with a composition inspired by something seen on field trips across the country. His sketches and photographs are part of the creative process, made as reference material for paintings worked out in the studio. Leski prefers painting on a medium toned ground, working in the highlights and dark values, experimenting with brushwork and color, He treats his art as the mere medium for conveying something of social or human interest. Recent work has emphasized country themes.
